Random question here… anyone got ideas or creative solutions for adding a CD or even cassette player to an EV6? I know it sounds retro, but as an engineer, I’m thinking of trying to put something together that looks clean and actually works. Just thought I’d check if anyone’s already done it!
Might not be high-tech, but you could use a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the headphone jack of a portable CD or cassette player.

That’s actually a solid option, thanks! Simple but effective.
As an engineer, I’d advise against it.

Classic case of, just because we can doesn’t mean we should!

Exactly. You said you want it to look ‘clean and nice,’ but that’s a whole other ballgame from just making a CD player work as a USB device.
I had to laugh at the idea of a cassette player in an EV6.
Believe it or not, there are cassette-to-USB players out there.

Nice, thanks! I’ll have to look those up.
Can I ask why you want to do this? Are you looking for the quality of CDs, or is it just nostalgia? The cassette part has me curious.

Honestly, it’s about 40% nostalgia, 60% practical use. I went back to a basic phone about a year ago and love it, but I’m limited with music options in the EV6. Sometimes radio just doesn’t cut it!

If it’s nostalgia you want, trade the EV6 for an old 300ZX Turbo. Comes with cassette and CD included!

Wouldn’t it be easier to use a dumbphone with Bluetooth and an SD card slot? Or you could plug a USB drive into the EV6 and store high-quality audio files there. These days you can get tons of storage on a tiny USB drive. CDs were fun, but I don’t miss lugging them around!
I tried using my old portable USB DVD/CD drive in the car, but no luck. My wife loves her CD collection, so I’ve just been ripping them on my PC. If you have old tapes, you could rip those with Audacity and keep the originals safe at home.
Some brands like Shanling, FiiO, and Moondrop have released nice portable players for physical media lately. The biggest challenge would be finding a way to mount them in the car that doesn’t look out of place.
You’re an engineer, right? Figure it out! Edit: Just curious, are you really an engineer?

Are you actually here to be helpful, or just to throw shade?
