Battery State of Health Reading - Is This Normal?

Hey all!

I just checked my battery state of health (SOH) using my Bluetooth OBD reader, and it’s showing 97.8%. I have a 2023 GT-Line AWD with about 19,000 miles on it. Most of my charging has been Level 2 AC, plugging in at 30-40% and charging to 80%, with a 100% charge once a month as recommended in the manual.

I’m curious, is this considered normal degradation? What’s everyone else seeing with similar mileage?

Thanks for the input!

My EV6 RWD is from November 2021, and I’ve driven about 65,000 km (40,000 miles). My battery reports 97.7% SOH.

From what I’ve seen with other Ioniq and EV6 batteries, there’s often little to no noticeable degradation over time. Your number seems within normal range, but it’s slightly more degradation than what I’ve come across.

Full disclosure: I don’t own one yet, but I’m planning to buy soon.

I’ve got a 2023 GT-Line AWD with 3,000 miles. I also charge to 100% once a month. My charging breakdown is 34% DC, 23% Level 2, and 45% Level 1. Using the CarScanner app, I calculate my battery health based on a usable power of 74 kWh. My readings over the last few months have been 99.67%, 99.58%, and 99.54%.

Do you have a tutorial on how to check the SOH? I used an OBD on my Renault Zoe, but with the EV6, I can’t find an easy way to do it.

You’ll need a Bluetooth OBD reader and the CarScanner app.

@Christopher
And what do I need to do in the CarScanner app?

Use the ‘Kia Ioniq 5 / Ioniq 6 / EV6 / EV9 / Niro EV’ connection profile. Then go to the Dashboard, and on page 7/27, you’ll see the SOH in the top right corner.

Thanks!
