Best classic cars for EV Restomods?

Didn’t know that existed. Thanks for the heads-up!

How about a Saab 900 classic, or even a Sonnet?

How about a '67 Mustang fastback with the Mach-E powertrain, just to upset people? Or maybe a Land Rover Series II with a Rivian drivetrain—because as much as I love my Rivian, the Series II 88” is even cooler.

OP, you’ve listed some great choices, but I’m leaning toward the practical side: the Volvo 240DL wagon. It’s not aerodynamic at all, but it’s super easy to work on, has a huge engine bay, and the batteries could fit nicely under the back seat and in the trunk.

I’d love to see a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud restomod.

I’ve thought about converting some of the more unique cars from the early 2000s like the Plymouth Prowler, 2002 Thunderbird, or Chevy SSR. They were all underpowered but had great designs, and converting them wouldn’t ruin a true classic.

A DeTomaso Pantera would be a great EV mod, but they’re so expensive.

Some cars are too perfect to mess with, and the Pantera is definitely one of them!

Sort of like this: Electric MG: classic MGB given EV conversion | RBE Classic Electric Cars

I’d love to convert a Renault Twingo.

A 1974 Cadillac Eldorado convertible would make an awesome EV conversion!

Mazda Miata all the way!

I’ve thought a lot about turning a 1996-98 Toyota T100 into an EV.

A friend of mine owns @Emusclecars, and their first few conversions were replica Cobras, 69 Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes. There’s a lot of space under the hood for batteries in those kinds of cars.

How about a Ford Pinto, the car that was known to ‘blow up real good’?

How about a 2nd gen Corvair? There’s plenty of room for batteries in the front and back, and you’d still have some storage space left.

What do you think about the Benz S124? More aerodynamic than a Volvo 240, but just as practical. I’d love to convert mine to electric, though it’s only driven a few thousand kilometers each summer.

How about turning it into a W124 Evo II clone?

I think Chrysler K-cars would be perfect for Nissan Leaf powertrain swaps.
