So I’m hoping that since the recall there’s more information, as all the other posts on here seem to be over a year old.
I charged my EV6 for about 2 hours at a public Level 2 charger. Initially, the charging failed, but after reconnecting, it worked fine for the full 2 hours. However, on my drive home, about a quarter-mile in, I got a ‘Check electric vehicle system’ warning.
The Kia Connect app shows nothing, and I’ve run diagnostics several times. I tried disconnecting the 12V battery for a few minutes, but the error returned after driving a similar distance.
I also checked the air flaps at the front, which are reportedly tied to this warning—they seem to be working fine.
I haven’t done the ICCU software update related to the recall, which I kept putting off, and I’m wondering if this could be related.
The car still lets me drive over 35 mph, and everything else seems normal. I’ll be taking the car in for a scan and TSB updates, but does anyone have additional info, suggestions, or advice? Anyone else experienced something similar?
The update didn’t stop mine from failing. My ICCU blew on Christmas Eve, and the car was in the shop for two weeks. They replaced the ICCU and the fuse.

Finally, a helpful response—thank you!
If your car goes in for repair, ask for a loaner. I have a 65+ mile daily commute and was given a Kia Soul as a loaner while my EV6 was being fixed. It saved me a lot on gas.
Sounds like the ICCU issue. I had the same thing happen a few months ago. I was about 10 miles from the nearest dealership and had to abandon my car in a random neighborhood, Uber home, and get it towed the next morning. The dealership took three weeks to fix it, but they gave me a loaner, so it worked out okay in the end.

Did your car go into turtle mode? Mine is still driving normally. Also, did you get a diagnostic notification from the Kia app? I haven’t gotten anything from either the app or the car’s system.

I got two messages on the screen, not in the app. One said the car was about to go into Turtle Mode. I never got an app notification, though.

I only got the ‘Check electric vehicle’ warning, nothing about the battery or ‘Stop vehicle’ like others have mentioned. Did those warnings come up quickly for you?

Sounds like you may have avoided frying the ICCU—hope you get good news from the dealership!

I’m trying to get an earlier appointment at another dealership since mine isn’t great. Fingers crossed!

Hey, did your issue get resolved? I’m dealing with a similar situation and would love to hear how yours turned out.

It’s ongoing. Initially, the dealership thought it was just a dying 12V battery, but after they replaced it and did the ICCU TSB, the error came back. Now they think it’s a BCM (Body Control Module) issue, but they haven’t confirmed it yet. They’ve had my car for two weeks, and I’m stuck waiting for guidance from the ‘super techs’ at Kia.

Thanks for the update. We’re in a similar boat with a ‘Check electric vehicle system’ warning but no diagnostic notifications. Our car also won’t charge above 80%. Sounds like you’ve been through a lot—good luck!
Mine just went out yesterday too, and I had the ICCU update. I heard a pop under the car, and now there’s no 12V power except from the battery. Same message as you. Hoping to get in touch with the dealer first thing Monday. 2022 AWD with 20k miles.

That sucks! I didn’t hear a pop, and everything seems fine except for the warning light. Good luck at the dealer!

Because pretty much everything was resolved with updates last summer.
If it’s because I put off the update, I accept that I messed up. But I’m just looking for more helpful advice or reassurance—maybe someone who’s had this warning and it turned out to be nothing major.

Why not just get the update done?
I was planning to at my next maintenance appointment, but work’s been busy, and my dealership isn’t great. They’ve scheduled me before and then canceled because their EV tech wasn’t available.

That makes sense. But still, driving around with the issue won’t help either. Hope you can get it fixed soon.
