Is it normal for the coolant to drop from max to min in just 5000 miles (about 8000 km)?
When I got my car, the dealer had filled the coolant up to the max level, and now, 5000 miles later, it’s right down to the min mark. I’ve only done fast charging four times in total.
My local dealer doesn’t seem very reliable, so I thought I’d ask here before going back to them. Any ideas?
Could be a small leak somewhere… that’s usually the first thing to check.
Haven’t come across this issue here. You might want to check the official Kia forums too. Usually, coolant gets checked once a year up to around 100k miles, so if it’s already dropping, I’d definitely go to a dealership. Maybe try a different one if your local dealer isn’t too helpful.
When I picked up mine, it was at the max mark right after being on an AC charger. I’ve noticed mine goes down to the min mark if it’s been sitting for a while without charging. But when I do DC fast charging or longer level 2 sessions, it actually goes slightly above the max line.
Maybe check if there are any puddles under your car after charging—just in case!
