How long is normal for a DCFC repair?

In September, I made a 1200-mile trip to visit relatives. During one of my DCFC stops in Iowa City, I found two ChargePoint units at a gas station/convenience store. I tried the one on the right but discovered the handle/latch was broken. I moved to the left unit, which worked fine, and reported the issue to ChargePoint on 9/25/2024.

Fast forward to 11/19/2024, and I just received an email saying the unit has been repaired and the issue is resolved. Is it normal for repairs to take this long?

Hopefully, it didn’t actually take two months to fix the charger and the delay was just in sending the notification.

This is pretty typical for ChargePoint. They rely on site hosts to approve and fund repairs. Be glad it was fixed at all!

It was a nice stop overall—clean bathrooms and plenty of food options beyond just snacks.

ChargePoint is just the hardware provider. They offer service plans, but it’s up to the site owner to keep the chargers operational. Unfortunately, I’ve seen some ChargePoint units stay broken indefinitely.
