Thinking about buying a used EV6 to replace my 2022 Outback. The Outback has been great, especially with its wagon-style design. But I’m concerned about the EV6 not having a rear wiper. I live in Southern Ontario, so we get all kinds of weather—rain, snow, slush, you name it. I use my rear wiper a lot for visibility.
For those of you who own an EV6, is this just a minor adjustment or a major issue? How does it handle in bad weather?
I live in rainy Oregon, and honestly, the lack of a rear wiper hasn’t been an issue for me at all. The slope of the rear window helps water slide off naturally.
I’m in Michigan and thought I’d miss having a rear wiper, but it’s bothered me far less than I expected. Snow melts pretty quickly with the rear defrost, so it’s not a big deal.
I’ve only had mine for about a month and a half, and it’s rained a lot since then. I haven’t had any issues with visibility or rain sticking to the window. While parked, water will collect, but once you start driving, it slides right off.
Coming from an F-150 with no rear wiper, I barely notice the EV6 doesn’t have one. If you’re used to having one, it might take a little adjustment, but for me, it’s not even on my list of must-haves.
I live in the Netherlands, where it rains all year. Honestly, it hasn’t been a problem. The aerodynamics of the EV6 kind of take care of it. Wind force helps clear most of the water as you drive.
I’ve had my EV6 for over a year and driven 32k miles. Rain or snow hasn’t been an issue.
The one thing that annoys me is after a car wash. Water tends to pool on the rear glass and leaves streaks as it dries. A rear wiper with a fluid nozzle would solve that problem, but it’s more of a cosmetic thing than anything functional.
Despite what reviews said, I’ve had no issues even in heavy snow or rain. If you’re driving on dusty or muddy roads a lot, you might notice it more, though.
The Ioniq 5 needs a rear wiper because its rear window is almost vertical. The EV6’s slope naturally sheds water, so it hasn’t been an issue for me. I’ve never once wished it had a wiper.
