Kia haters... anyone else dealing with this?

@Maria
Yes, but it’s recommended to charge to 80%, which gives you about 250 miles. For a 90-mile road trip (180 miles round trip), you’re left with only 40-50 miles of range, so you’d need to recharge on longer trips.

Honestly, I’m disappointed with my EV9. The ride quality isn’t great; I feel every bump, and sometimes it sways on the highway. Plus, Android Auto constantly makes us re-pair phones, and the 12v drains the battery overnight, losing 5-8%. Also, the memory seat is tied to the passenger, not the key fob, and the cupholders are just poorly designed. I regret buying it.

@Nathan
Might be something wrong with your suspension because mine rides like a dream. The phone thing is a known issue with switching between two phones, though. And the 12v charge thing is weird, but I haven’t noticed any battery drain on mine.

@Nathan
Have you taken it to the dealer for service? That doesn’t sound normal and should be covered under warranty.

5-8% overnight drain is huge. Maybe something’s plugged in that’s causing the issue? Definitely needs to be looked at.

Share this with your family.

We’ve got 2 Tellurides and an EV6. We’ve owned Toyotas and Fords for years, and we all agree that Kia/Hyundai is more enjoyable to drive.

Your family is probably using outdated info. Car brand opinions can stick around for decades, even if they don’t reflect the current quality. Just like how some people still think Toyota is flawless, even though they’ve had plenty of recalls recently.

They don’t know what they’re talking about. Kia’s reputation used to be bad, but they’re not the same company they were 10 years ago. The EV9 is highly praised for a reason. It’ll take about 2 minutes inside one to change their mind—if they’re not too stubborn.

My husband and I were the same way before we started researching EVs. Even during the first test drive of the EV9, we were skeptical, but now it’s the nicest car we’ve ever owned. Sure, it has quirks, but every brand does. We did a 2-year lease, and 6 months in, we’re already thinking of keeping it.

We’ve loved our EV9 GT-Line so far. I’m a little nervous about service if something big goes wrong, but the car itself is fantastic. The in-car software could be better, but I use CarPlay, so it doesn’t bother me much.

Take them for a ride. I bet they’ll change their mind.

I tell people Kia and Hyundai are doing now what Toyota and Honda did years ago—going from ‘meh’ to really good. Even my most stubborn friends get that.

There are always brand snobs out there, but every brand has made a few duds, and some so-called lesser brands have made great cars. Be sure to get the vehicle-to-load adapter; it’s handy in emergencies.

My family has had some expensive issues with Hyundai, but I chose Kia for their EVs because the features are unmatched. Our EV6 has been great, and adding an EV9 felt like the right move.

I was skeptical too, but reading reviews from Wired and Car and Driver and looking at JD Power rankings convinced me Kia had really improved.

I loved test driving the EV9, but my experience with Kia’s service was horrible. I’ve had three Kias, but after my latest experience with warranty service, I’m going back to Acura or Lexus.

Well, the EV9 doesn’t have the best track record.
