I feel like either I’m doing something wrong or I’m lucky to live in the community I live in. I read so many posts/reviews about DC fast charging and how expensive it is. I just got my Mach-e and while waiting to get a plug installed in my garage I’ve just been charging at a Chevy dealer that has Blink chargers. My short charge today was $1.52 without the start fee for about 30 kWh. Is this price typical of many places in the US? I was getting around 130 kW for charging speed.
0.05 is insanely cheap for DCFC. It’s well below the average cost of electricity period. https://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.php?t=epmt_5_6_a

It makes me wonder who is subsidizing selling below the market price.
@Randy
Or someone typed in 005 instead of 050 when setting the price.

This HAS to be it. 50 cents per kWh makes so much more sense than 5. Might as well not charge anything at that point. Residential rates in SoCal are 34 cents.
@sorphia
I’m in SoCal and with the EV rate, it’s 23 cents/kWh off-peak.

$0.13/kWh for super off-peak here in SDGE territory.

My super off-peak is the same as off-peak.
@sorphia
I pay 0.03 - PNM New Mexico.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking.

I pay 0.03 cents in New Mexico. Special rate that the first 1000 EV owners in the state got (PNM, utility company, came over and installed a new meter. It will go to 0.06 next year.
@Randy
Well, the dealer, I suppose.
I think you should make use of that price as long as possible. If I had V2H I’d be running my entire house off of it
That’s less than I pay for home charging, even with an off-peak rate. My cost at home is $0.15/kWh. If I could get level 3 for a third of that, I’d be there every day.
OK, how much was the ‘start fee’? Is this like a session fee (fixed for every session)? This needs to be factored in since you also pay it.

I’d be filling jerry cans and shopping bags at that price!

Start fee was 50 cents.

Wow, what a deal! What are the charge speeds (in kW)?
This is 90% a typo by whoever set the charge rate, but take advantage of the cheap energy for as long as you can!
Take that deal. If it was by me I’d use that, but all are 10x that price, so I charge at home.
