I found what seems like a great deal on a new 2023 EV6 Wind RWD with only 24 miles on it. My concern is whether the battery life could be negatively impacted since it’s barely been driven in the past two years.
I’m new to EVs and not sure what factors affect battery health. Should I be worried about this? Thanks in advance for your advice!
I’m guessing you’re asking about the main battery, not the 12V one. If that’s your concern, you can check the battery’s health using an OBD scanner.
Battery health depends on its state of charge while it’s been sitting. If it was charged to 100% or left under 20% for long periods, that could cause some degradation. Otherwise, it should be fine.
I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s more of an issue with cars that have the ICCU problem, but I’m not sure how common that is. If it’s the 12V battery you’re worried about, it’s an easy fix. Most auto stores like AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts will install a new battery for you. Upgrading to an AGM battery costs around $250.
