Did you cross that stretch between Pendleton and Boise? The cold really drains the battery when climbing those mountains in the winter. Last time I did that drive, I had to charge in Pendleton, Baker, and Ontario just to be safe.
@Howard
I thought the same about the Spokane to Missoula stretch. Other than a few Tesla chargers, it’s a dead zone. Gotta love physics!

It’s rough, especially with so few chargers in that area. I recently got a CCS adapter, and it’s been a game-changer.
Great trip review! You showed that EV road trips are totally doable these days.
How high did you charge at each stop? I try to avoid charging to 100% since it slows down a lot after 80%, unless I need the full range for the next leg.
The mountain driving sounds great! I had a similar experience in Colorado with my Model S. Going up Pikes Peak, the battery dropped to 16% at the top, but thanks to regen, it was back up to 28% by the time I got down to Colorado Springs.
I really like the Mach-E, but I went with a Model 3 because of the better software and infotainment. If Ford ever updates the Mach-E’s interior to be more modern, I’d consider switching.
