Tow Bar preference? Stealth Hitch or standard?

I’ve had a hitch on my car for years, primarily for bike racks, towing, and also to help with frame stiffening. One thing I’ve noticed is that having a high-mounted tow ball can be handy for discouraging tailgaters. Once, I found plastic from someone’s car shattered around the tow ball on my old Nissan Versa, and another time, I saw a hole in an Expedition’s bumper from a similar incident while I was at work.

Now, I’ve had my EV6 for a year and am looking into getting a hitch. The Stealth Hitch is appealing but comes at a steep price when you factor in all the accessories. On the other hand, a standard Type III hitch is much more affordable at about a third of the cost, not including the electronics.

What are you all using? What’s your experience been?

I’m using the Draw Tite Class III hitch with an OEM light harness. The install was relatively easy, and I’m happy with it.

The Stealth Hitch is cool, but I also hesitated at the price. I wasn’t fully confident towing with a removable socket hitch ball, either.

It does touch the light assembly a bit and pushes it upwards slightly, but it’s not a major issue.

Edit: Not compatible with GT or GT-Line models.

I’m getting a Draw-Tite Class III receiver installed this Wednesday. It’s about $800 installed, including the electrical. Definitely not stealthy!
