Using Tesla level 2 charger at home with an EV6?

I just leased a 2024 EV6 Wind SEL and am planning to get a J1772-to-Tesla adapter so I can use my friend’s Tesla level 2 charger at their home. Do I need the Tesla app for it, or is it just plug-and-play?

Yep, just plug and play. I use a Tesla level 2 mobile charger with an adapter for my EV9, and it started charging right away. Should be the same for your EV6.

Most home chargers are plug-and-play unless there are specific settings you need to adjust. I’m not too familiar with the Tesla home unit, but it should be straightforward.

I think the Tesla charger owner can set it to only allow Tesla vehicles, so as long as that option isn’t turned on, it should work fine with the adapter.
