Why do electric cars seem to look better than gas ones?

I think it’s because most EVs are new models and designed recently, whereas many gas cars have been around for decades and stick to older designs. Plus, EVs tend to be more expensive, so automakers throw in all the premium features to justify the price, which makes them look nicer overall.

For example the Q8, it’s a beautiful car

Come on now, people have different tastes! Even the BMW XM and Pontiac Aztek sold.

If you have to compare something to the XM or Aztek, that’s basically admitting it’s ugly as hell :joy:

The cleaner design at the front and back gives EVs a sleek look. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal taste. I don’t love the sound of sports cars, but others think that’s what makes them cool.

I’ve always thought ICE cars look too bulky.

I agree in general, but I think the ICE Volvo XC90 looks better than the electric EX90. I prefer the traditional Volvo grille.

One reason EVs look more sleek is that they don’t need big grills for cooling the engine. They can be designed with a cleaner, more aerodynamic shape. The design constraints are different since there’s no engine up front to work around.

For brands like Audi and BMW, aerodynamics are super important. EVs can lose a lot of range at high speeds, so they need to be as aerodynamic as possible. This gives them that streamlined look with smooth airflow and smaller cooling systems.

Actually, EVs are more efficient than gas cars at high speeds, but they’re much more efficient at low speeds, so the difference is more noticeable when driving fast.

@Nathan
True, all cars are less efficient at high speeds, but for gas cars, you’re already losing so much energy that it doesn’t feel as noticeable.
