Winter tire and rims

Hi,

I need to buy winter tires and rims. Any suggestions?

I have always changed my tires at home. Do any of you do it for your EV6? Anything special I need to know?
Do I need TPMS? Or can I live without it?

Thanks.

I bought a set of Blizzaks on Drag DR67 wheels and TPMS. I bought them at Discount Tire and they do free wheel swaps.

Blizzaks were great last winter. I have a RWD Wind and it was still fine in the snow.

No one “needs” TPMS but modern cars will likely show error messages on the dash if you don’t have TPMS. Up to you if you can tolerate that or not during winters.

The smallest rim size that will clear the brake calipers is 18". If you opt for that rim size, go for a sidewall of 60.

I don’t use winter tires on my EV6, but I previously lived out east and needed winter tires on my Ford Fusion Energi. I used Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires and they handled Michigan/Ontario snow with ease.

I got these rims:
18X8 ENKEI TUNING TS-10
With these mounted
235/60R-18 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK DM-

In 2022 and have been happy for two seasons GT Line AWD.

I did get the TPMS because I’m obsessive like that.

Tbh, I get my local garage to change them for $40. Peace of mind.
