Hey everyone, I’m thinking of leasing a 2024 EV6 GT-line and had a question about the charging. Is the issue with throttling after the software patch still something to worry about in the 2024 model? Also, are there any other issues I should know about before signing the lease?
I’ve had my 2024 GT-Line for 6 months now, all updates installed.
Honestly, no issues at all. I use a level 2 home charger and sometimes DC fast chargers on road trips. Everything works great.
I don’t use the full 48A from my home EVSE, but I regularly pull 9+kW to charge without any trouble. This car is fantastic, and it seems like the early issues have been sorted out.

Thanks for the feedback!
The throttling isn’t the issue—it’s the fix. The problem was that when the port overheated, charging would stop completely. That left people with half-charged cars when they woke up. Now, the software throttles the speed if the port gets too hot, so it may take a little longer, but I’d rather have it slow down than have to restart the charge. Since I charge overnight, I don’t really care if it takes 5 hours instead of 4.
The latest update throttles charging to prevent the ISC from overheating. I’ve got two EV6s, and while they normally charge at 11kW, I’ve seen it drop to 9kW or even 6kW for a short time when needed. According to my Emporia charger, it charges at 11kW over 90% of the time. Throttling is intentional and helps keep things running smoothly.

Same here, I use the same charger, and throttling is definitely a good thing in this case.
