My 12v battery has gone low-voltage four times now. Kia Roadside jump-started it once, and since then, I’ve jump-started it myself with a booster pack three more times.
The dealer wouldn’t replace it because it passed their test after an hour on their charger, so I ordered an AGM replacement and plan to install it on Thursday. My question is, should the ABS orange light reactivate to keep the new battery charged from the high-voltage battery when the car is off?
Since I replaced my battery with an AGM one a month ago, I haven’t seen the ABS light come on at all. I think driving it every other day is enough to keep it charged, so it doesn’t seem to need extra charging while off.
It should come on exactly 10 times, which gives you about 24 hours of support for your 12v battery. If your EV6 isn’t driven after that, any mystery drain—like the one that seems to affect E-GMP vehicles—will keep pulling on the 12v battery until it dies.
What year and trim is your EV6? Have you had the software update or ICCU replacement that was part of the recall? I assume you’ve done it, but I’m curious if it made any difference.

It’s a 2023 GT-Line with 27,000 miles. I did the ICCU recall but only got a software update, no hardware change.
Interesting! I was just told that my touchscreen is drawing power from the 12v battery. They’ve unplugged it to see if that’s the cause. If it is, looks like I’ll need a new touchscreen.
