So, here’s another door question (sorry if this is boring!). My model (Wind AWD, no tech package) does a few automatic things when I walk up with the key. It opens the trunk, which is super helpful when I’m carrying bags. It also beeps and unfolds the side mirrors. But it does NOT unlock the doors! Is that weird? What’s the point of unfolding the mirrors if the doors stay locked? Can I configure this somehow?
That’s normal for this trim level—automatic door unlocking is only available on GT-Line and above.

What’s “above” the GT-Line?

Just the GT. GT-Line is similar to Hyundai’s Limited trim with added features like ambient lighting, better seats, pop-out handles, and extra driver assistance. But the powertrain is the same as the Wind and Light models. For details, Kia’s website has more info.

So why does it beep and unfold the mirrors then? What’s the point?

It’s a reminder of the upgrade package you didn’t choose.
@Kenneth
Exactly!

Yeah, it’s odd. It feels like a half-baked feature—would love to know the logic behind it.

It’s because the software is the same as the GT-Line. The door handles and unlock feature are basically upsell perks.

Exactly! My renter has a Nissan Ariya that does auto-lock/unlock, but not my much nicer Kia…

My last car (2015 Audi) did it too. Seems like Kia could add it with a software update—it’s not like they need different hardware.
@jessicah
True! It could be an option in settings, maybe with a security toggle. Now it’s just on our wish list!

Software update… available by subscription only!

My car just unfolds the mirrors, no beep.

The auto-fold feature prevents people from accidentally bending your mirror the wrong way. I’ve had this happen on other cars—thankfully, not on my EV6 yet.
@Mark
I get the benefit of folding them in. It’s the automatic unfolding when I’m near the car that’s confusing.
I thought the GT-Line had the 600hp motor and upgraded brakes and seats.

Nope, just the auto unlock on the doors! All you get for the extra $10k /s

It also comes with a standard sunroof.
