Anyone else getting bruises on their leg getting out of the EV6?

I just got a demo 2023 EV6, and while I love pretty much everything about it, I’ve got a problem I never had with other cars. Every time I get out, my leading leg (right one since I’m in Australia) keeps hitting the trim below the door, and now my calf is bruised up. I’m 5’7", and my 5’9" husband doesn’t have this issue, so I’m wondering if it’s just me. I have to consciously step way out or swivel to avoid it. Any tips on what I can do to make this easier?

EDIT: I’m looking for helpful advice, not criticism. If you’ve got nothing constructive, please go somewhere else.

No offense, but maybe it’s just the way you get out of cars? I’ve had my leg or hand bumped on the door before, but I don’t get bruised that badly. My wife’s your height, and she steps out one leg, then the other in a smooth motion. She’s also got strong calves, if that helps picture it.

“Doctor, it hurts when I do this.”

“Then don’t do that.”

My mom is 5’7" and I’m 5’10"—neither of us have had this issue. Maybe it’s just a specific thing for you?

Have you noticed any difference between the driver’s side and passenger side? When the driver’s seat moves back automatically, it could give you more space to step out easily. I get it though—if you bruise easily, just a bump can do it. I usually go one leg at a time, but I don’t turn sideways in my seat.

Can you adjust the seat to move back further?

I haven’t experienced this, but here are a few things to check. Does the seat position change anything? Do you have it set to automatically move when the car is off? Maybe the seat height is a factor too?

Wait, the seat can move automatically? I have the Air trim—does yours have this feature?

I’m not sure if the Air trim does, but it’s called “easy access” in the seat menu. It moves the driver’s seat back a bit when you turn the car off and moves you forward when it’s on. If it’s available, it could be worth trying out.

I have the Wind trim here in the USA. The option is under Driver Convenience in the settings menu. I’ll check the exact option next time I’m in the car.

Go to Setup, then Vehicle, and select Seats—there you’ll find the option for easy entry and other settings.

I’m also 5’7", and my wife is 5’3", and we haven’t had this issue. Could it be due to the EV design? Maybe the floor or trim is positioned differently? It might be something you’ll get used to over time. You could adjust the seat settings manually to make it easier or maybe swing your leg out wider if you’re in an open area. Might be a good idea to have your husband watch and give feedback, since he’s taller and doesn’t have the same issue. Good luck!
