Lately, I’ve had an issue where I press the door and hear the mechanism, but the door doesn’t open. It’s not happening consistently enough for me to take it to the dealer yet.
Just in case anyone didn’t know, the charge port door only opens if the car is unlocked. For me, it works every time as long as I press firmly. Don’t be too gentle!
If it’s still not working, even when unlocked, you might want to get it checked out.
Make sure the car is unlocked first.
I love this car, but it definitely has a few things where it seems to have a mind of its own instead of doing what I actually want it to do.
It needs a firm press. It’s not touch-sensitive. Look inside to see where the little nub on the flap hits the button.
Yeah, mine hasn’t opened that way once since I got the car.
Same here. I can’t seem to get it to work right either.
Look inside the charge port door. There’s a little nub that hits a button when you press the door. You need to press in exactly the right spot for it to open, and the car has to be unlocked.
This drives me nuts. I know the others are right about how to do it, but it still annoys me. It should just open when I touch it, regardless of how long it’s been locked.
I’ve just forced it open before. Not ideal, but it hasn’t broken yet.

Same here, not sure why this is getting downvoted. Sometimes forcing it is the only thing that works for me. I’ve got a GT-Line RWD too.
@Peggy
Yeah, it’s not the best idea, but if it breaks, I’ll just get it replaced. It’s been fine so far.

I took it to the extreme. I screwed an eye hook into the bumper and attached a prybar with a rope. No more issues opening the charge door!
@jessicah
You know you can just use your fingers, right?

I was kidding! I thought the prybar and rope thing was over the top enough to be a joke.

Haha, got me! I was like, ‘No way!’
