New EV6 owner here, with about 5000kms and 3 months of use. This morning, I got the dreaded ‘Check electrical vehicle system’ error. A quick search online tells me it could be anything from a sensor issue to a valve problem. I just had the car towed to the dealership. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I expect?
Yeah, that message is purposely vague so you don’t try to mess with a high-voltage system after watching a random YouTube video. It’s designed to keep you safe and let the professionals handle it.
Check the Kia Access app—it might give you more details about the error. I had a similar issue, and by the next day, the app and car both decided everything was fine.

I wish the app was available in my region

Massachusetts?

Nope, I’m in sub-Saharan Africa! But good guess!

Oops, my bad! I guessed Massachusetts because buyers there famously don’t get access to the Kia Connect app.

I checked the app when I had a similar error, but it didn’t show anything either.
Good luck! My dealer had no clue what was going on and had to call Kia for help. My car’s been in the shop for a week, and they still have no answers. I had to argue to even get a rental. If it needs parts, I’m expecting a long wait.

They gave me a Niro hybrid as a replacement. It’s a bit annoying to have to buy fuel for a while, but the dealership was quick and professional about it, so I can’t complain too much.

You’re lucky! Not everyone gets a loaner so fast.
Update: I picked up my car from the dealership yesterday. It turns out the motor controlling an air intake flap on the front left (for cooling the brakes or electric components) had stopped working, so the flap couldn’t close. They had the part and replaced it within 24 hours from the time I called them to the time the car was ready for pickup. I returned the Niro they loaned me and drove my EV6 home. So far, it feels like it’s back to normal!
For a car with two big LCD screens, you’d think it could be more specific about the error. This feels like the old ‘check engine’ light. I miss how Tesla would show detailed info on the screen, and the service center could run diagnostics remotely.

Actually, the app and car can run remote diagnostics. It sounds like the OP decided to tow the car right away. Personally, I would’ve called Kia service to see if they could do anything before towing it in.

Unfortunately, the app isn’t available in my region, so that wasn’t an option for me.

I got the same error, but it disappeared the next time I charged the car. If it doesn’t go away, it could be any number of issues.

Did your car still start? When my charging system module failed, I got that error, and the car wouldn’t start at all. Had to get it towed.

Yeah, it started and drove just fine. The error message was the only issue.

That’s good to hear. When mine went bad, it took six weeks to repair, but it’s been running great ever since. Glad I got it fixed early.

I’ve had this error twice. Restarted the car and ignored it.
