I’m considering getting a '23 or '24 Kia EV6 Wind RWD with Tech as my first EV. Right now, I’m seeing used ones with 9-15k miles listed for $27-33k. Do you think prices might drop further as '25 models come out and depending on what happens with federal EV credits?
I live in the DC/Bowie, MD area and don’t drive much—just once every week or two. I’d mainly use the EV for longer trips, like going back to Kentucky or camping. I’m not in urgent need of a car but would like to move to electric and upgrade from my 2021 Prius Prime. What do you think? Thanks!
With EV tax credits potentially going away and tariffs looming, I’d expect the market to tighten. These cars already have heavy incentives, so if you qualify for the credit, I’d buy now.

Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for the credit. I’m more curious if the removal of credits might lower used prices for 2-3 year-old models. Sounds like now might still be a better time than early '25 due to increased demand.

If you lease, the manufacturer takes the credit and applies the savings to your deal. It’s worth considering.
I was thinking about the lease-buyback loophole, but it seems like a hassle to find a dealer who understands it and doesn’t sneak in hidden fees. I might skip it.

I went with a 2-year lease for my EV6 GT Line as a test run. I love it so far, but leasing gives you flexibility in case it’s not a good fit for you.
@izael
We went with a lease because the total out-of-pocket cost worked out better. At the end of the lease, we’ll buy it out for the price we originally wanted to pay. It’s worth running the numbers.
Starting Jan 1, the $4k used EV credit for '23 models will kick in. If you find one for under $25k, you might qualify. It could help bring some great deals early in the year.

Unfortunately, I’d need to make under $75k to qualify, and I don’t. Unless I find a workaround, like having a friend buy it for me, it’s out of reach.
@izael
It’s based on adjusted gross income (AGI), not gross income. Also, the limit is $112,500 if you file as head of household. Worth double-checking!
I just got a new '24 EV6 on a great lease deal. With incentives, it was cheaper to lease for 24 months and buy it out later than to finance it outright. You might want to check if new makes more sense than used in your case.
@Mark
That sounds like a great deal! How much effort did it take to find, and where are you located? Also, can you share the final price and trim level?

TL;DR: $56,965 total. I leased a '24 EV6 GT-Line RWD with $7500 lease incentives, $1200 dealer discount, and plan to buy it out later. My effective monthly cost is about $419 for the first 24 months, after which I’ll owe $30,519. If you want a full breakdown, let me know!

Check Leasehackr forums for Kia deals. I got an amazing lease through a broker, and it saved me a lot of hassle compared to negotiating at a dealership.
If you’re planning to buy, I’d say now is the time. The EV credit is likely going away, and tariffs might increase new car prices, pushing more buyers to the used market. That could drive up used prices.
I just bought a used '23 EV6 AWD Wind with Tech from Carvana for $36,500. It had 1,500 miles on it. I tried dealerships in MD, VA, and PA, but they were frustratingly evasive about actual prices.

That’s a solid price! How are you finding the car so far?
