So here’s the deal: the driver’s door handle doesn’t seem to respond when I touch the little dot while holding the FOB. The passenger side works just fine—locks and unlocks by touching it like you’d expect. The car does unlock on approach, and the door handles pop out like they should. I have it set to ‘unlock on off,’ so all doors unlock when I turn the car off.
But, if I open the hatch area, it won’t unlock when I approach the driver’s door. At that point, I’d like to unlock it by touching the handle instead of digging out the fob to hit the unlock button.
Is this a setting I can change, or do I need to get the driver’s door handle replaced?

I just bought the car and had a similar issue. Turns out if you push more on the right side of the handle (not the dot), it will unlock the door.
Same here. I have to push to the right of the dot and sometimes press pretty hard to get it to unlock.
@Jason
That’s because the Wind trim has a button behind the handle that needs to be pressed. The GT Line has a capacitive sensor in the handle, no button needed.

One of my few complaints with the car is how clunky the door handle feels. It takes me a couple of tries to get it to lock, but I’m getting better now that I know to press the far edge of the handle. But seriously, what’s the point of the dimple?
And the locking isn’t instant, so I’m always standing there awkwardly for a second to see if it worked. Definitely a first-world problem, but why make something so basic feel so complicated?
Also, I’m right-handed, and if I’m carrying something in my right hand, it’s almost impossible for me to open the door with my left hand!
Based on what you’re describing, it sounds like the driver’s door handle might be the issue. I’ve opened the rear hatch plenty of times and then unlocked the driver’s door without any trouble by touching the dot. I didn’t have to use the fob to unlock the door after opening the hatch.
