EV6 RWD Long Range (late 2023, EU) losing power

Hi fellow EV6 enthusiasts,

I’ve got a 2023 EV6 RWD Long Range, and overall, I’m really happy with it. But recently, I’ve noticed it’s been losing power from the drive battery while parked. On top of that, the modem connection has gotten painfully slow, even in areas with good coverage.

The car was recalled for the ICCU update back in May, which went smoothly. During our late summer service, they also updated the navigation to the August version.

Since late August, though, if the car is parked for an extended time (we noticed this when we left it for a week), it’s been losing a few kilometers of range per day. This seems completely new, and neither my wife nor I remember it happening before.

Has anyone else experienced this? Kia Denmark says they haven’t heard of it happening before.

Also, after the latest update in August, the connection to the modem in the car has become super slow. The Connect app sometimes just gives up. Of course, it could be an issue with the app itself! :slight_smile:

Is anyone else dealing with slow data connections in the app?

Thanks for being such a friendly and helpful community. This is one of the best forums ever :slight_smile:

Stay awesome! :slight_smile:

Edit: typos, auto-correct, and fat fingers :slight_smile:

It could be that something is draining the battery, or if the weather is getting colder, you might notice a slight drop in range each time.

It’s worth trying to disconnect your account from the car, deleting and reinstalling the app, and then reconnecting the car. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s helped fix app/connectivity issues for others.

It’ll need proper diagnostics, but if the antenna is faulty, the car might be trying to “dial home” repeatedly, which would drain the 12V battery. The HV battery would then top up the 12V slightly, causing the range drop.

@Kenneth
Ah, that makes sense. We’ve got a service appointment soon, so I’ll ask them to run a diagnostics check. If they don’t find anything, I’ll try resetting the app like you suggested. Thanks so much for the tip :slight_smile:
