Hey everyone! Super excited—yesterday I bought a used 2022 Kia EV6, and I’m loving it so far. Since it’s a certified pre-owned, the dealer offered to extend the bumper-to-bumper warranty to match the 10 year/100,000-mile EV warranty for $1,900 (with a $200 deductible). Normally, I skip these things because it feels like the dealership just trying to make extra cash, but the price seemed low enough for 7 more years that it got me thinking. What do you guys think—is it worth it to help cover any future repairs? Appreciate any thoughts!
Honestly, the 10/100k powertrain warranty doesn’t cover much that’s useful in an EV. Most of the components either aren’t covered or are already included in the 10/100k EV system warranty.
Since it’s CPO, you also get a 1 year/12k mile platinum warranty from when you bought it, so you’re really paying $1,900 for 6 years. I personally pass on warranties, but if you’re worried about something like the infotainment system failing after that first year, it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it.
