First long drive with my EV6 GT-Line… feeling a bit nervous

I bought my EV6 GT-Line 2 about 6 months ago, but I’ve only been doing short trips so far. Tomorrow I’m going on my first long drive of over 400km, and I’ve got some serious range anxiety creeping in. Let’s see how this goes!

It’s not really range anxiety, it’s more like charger anxiety! Trust me, EV6 on a 350kW charger is a thing of beauty.

Just plan to charge every 200 miles or so, and you’ll be fine. Charge up to 80%, and then hit the road again.

I did a 2000 km road trip recently, and once you get used to the driving pattern, the range estimate is pretty accurate. As long as your range is 20 km more than the distance to the next charger, you’ll be good.

Heads up, though—when your battery hits 10%, you’ll get a low HV battery warning. It can be a bit stressful the first time, but you’ll get used to it. I’ve gone as low as 3% when I was familiar with the route and the charger locations.

Aim for 350kW chargers and have a Level 2 backup within 20 km. Most of the stress is in your head, but once you’re prepared, the actual risk is pretty low.

I know that feeling! Took my first trip and when the warning hit at 15%, I got nervous. Turned off the music, went into ECO mode, and slowed down below the speed limit.

Just make sure you know where the 350kW chargers are on your route and you’ll be fine.

Thanks! I’ve marked every charger along the way. Funny enough, the range in this car is pretty similar to my old Titan XD.

We did a 700-mile drive in a GT, which uses more charge, and had no issues at all.

You’ll be fine! Just find a fast charger when needed, and the trip will be smooth. We did a 1000 km drive this summer, and it was super relaxing. With fast chargers, you’ll be back at 80% in just 15 minutes.

Plug in at every stop, even for just a few minutes. You can gain 50-100 km in no time on a 50kW charger.

If you haven’t already, download A Better Route Planner (ABRP). It’ll plot your trip and suggest the best charging stops!

I do a 450 km trip at least twice a month. As long as you have access to a DC fast charger, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Just finished an 1800-mile drive myself. First long trip and it went really well. I never let the battery drop below 30%, but now that I’m more confident, I’ll be fine dropping to 15-20%.

Watch out for headwinds, though—they can really mess with your range. One evening, I lost about a third of my range due to strong winds, so be prepared for that kind of surprise.

Do you have the Kia Connect Ultimate package? If so, just use the navigation, and it’ll automatically add charger waypoints, showing availability and everything.

Your GT-Line Package 2 has 20” wheels, right? You can gain about 50 km of extra range by switching to 19” wheels. I’ve got the GT-Line Package 1 with 19” wheels and I’m getting around 500 km in summer.

Same car, same range anxiety! But after a couple of long trips, it went away. You’ll be fine.
