Follow-up V2L After Hurricane Milton

I was able to keep ‘essentials’ going for 18 hours and used about 12% SOC over 24 hours.

The fridge, freezer, internet, CPAP, and fan all worked fine (after figuring out I had the wrong outlet for the CPAP).

On a personal note, we had no roof or siding damage, and no water intrusion. We were very lucky, but Milton was certainly less impactful for us than Hurricane Helene. Debby at the start of the season was even less intense.

It’s been a busy hurricane season. Let’s hope there won’t be any more this year! :wink:

The V2L functionality is such a great feature in EVs. Right now, I’m keeping the basics running off an inverter hooked up to my Bolt, which makes power outages much more tolerable.

Yeah, I used V2L in my EV6 that I got last September. We lost power around 10 PM and I hooked up the refrigerator, some lights, and a charging station for our devices. Luckily, power was restored around 5:15 AM, and I only used 4% of the EV6 battery. GREAT feature!

@jabali
I almost feel ‘cheated’ by these short power interruptions. I cut my teeth on Ian when we were out for six days. It was only off long enough to ruin stuff in the fridge this time, but the freezer would have been fine. :wink:

Glad to hear you made it through okay. I’m still waiting to hear from people I’ve worked with in Tampa. It looks like they really dodged a bullet with Milton making landfall just south of the bay.

For me, V2L is a killer feature. It helped us during Hurricane Beryl here in Houston, not just at our house but also by delivering power to a relative in need.
