We’re expecting our new EV6 this week, and I’ve already got a 220V outlet installed in the garage. Now I’m looking to pick up a charger ASAP. I’m leaning towards an Emporia charger since I already use their monitoring hardware, but I’d love to hear your experiences or recommendations for other brands.

Also, check for any incentives from your electric company or local organizations. They might recommend specific chargers and even offer discounts.

Another vote for ChargePoint. I got mine free thanks to a provincial incentive program. Sadly, those programs aren’t as generous anymore, but it’s worth looking into what’s available in your area.
I went with a simple ClipperCreek charger. The EV6 has scheduling options for off-peak charging, so I didn’t feel the need for a fancy charger. It’s worked great for me.
That said, with NACS connectors becoming more common, I might replace it down the line.
I have an Emporia charger, and it’s been perfect so far. My brother-in-law used his for about 10 years without any problems, which convinced me to get one.
I chose to hardwire mine to avoid any risk of melting the 14-50R outlet and to enable 48-amp charging if needed. Most of the time, I keep it at 40 amps, which I can adjust via the app.
Chargers are generally simple—most of the work is handled by the car itself. Customer service might be the only real differentiator, and Emporia has been solid. They’ve even pledged long-term support after some competitors folded. Plus, the price is hard to beat.
I’m a big Costco fan, so I went with their Wallbox Pulsar Plus. No issues so far—it was easy to install and works great. I hardwired it, but it also works with an outlet. It’s a 40-amp charger, but I usually lower the charging rate to 10 amps unless I need a quick charge. This helps extend the battery life. The app features, like scheduling and usage tracking, are solid.
