How would you yank out the type 2 charger from the car in this situation?

I’d probably wait for a neighbor to walk by and ask them to unplug it for me. But knowing me, I’d get bored, put on some pants, and go down to do it myself.

What about using a hoist with a remote control? You could even use it to lower the plug down when you get home, and it’d be protected while you’re away.

I looked into that, but a wireless remote-controlled winch costs around 150 euros, which feels like overkill just to solve a lazy problem.

The image is gone. I’m not sure what you’re dealing with here.

You’re going to have to go down there and unlatch it manually. No shortcuts.

Why not just unplug it from upstairs, tie it to a string attached to your porch, and lower it down? When you return, just reverse the process.

If the car isn’t charging and it’s just on a timer, you could unplug it from the wall and lower it down with a reel. But if it’s actively charging, I wouldn’t recommend unplugging it from the wall.

A better solution would be installing a holder on the wall. That way, when you go down to unplug it, you can store it in the holder for easy access next time.

Why not use a winch to hoist the whole car up by the charging cable? Then you could just pull the plug and let the car gently fall back into place. Easy peasy, right?

You could always wait for someone to get fed up and cut the cable for you. Problem solved, I guess.

Isn’t that cable extension going up in the air acting like a lightning rod? Might be safer to have an electrician wire something at ground level.

But after seeing the picture, I’m guessing you live in an apartment and can’t install anything ground-level. Maybe it’s worth talking to the management company to see if they can offer better solutions.
