Seems like it was a big problem in the 2022 and maybe 2023 models. How’s the 2024 holding up?
Not yet. The 2025 might be the model where it’s fully resolved.

Is there any official info from Kia confirming it’s been fixed, or is it just hopeful thinking that they would have tackled it by now?
2024 and 2025 are supposed to have improvements, but I still think the issue is only partially addressed. I haven’t seen the new ICCU in a 2024 broken down yet to confirm.
I don’t own this car, so I’m coming from the outside here. What exactly is the 12V issue? Do these batteries just fail more? Would swapping out the 12V battery with a different brand help, or is there more going on?
EDIT: Just looked up ICCU. Seems like it’s more complex than just a bad battery.
@MAKENA
Some people believe that using an AGM-style battery (instead of the standard lead-acid OEM battery) can handle the charging cycles better, so that’s a common recommendation… if you can’t get the ICCU fixed.
I have a 2024 model, and it’s still part of the ICCU recall.
I have a 2024 model year, delivered in June 2023, and I haven’t had any issues with the 12V battery or ICCU. They did apply an ICCU upgrade during my first routine service. It was just a preventive measure in case there was a potential problem.
We just took our 2024 in for the recall and got the software update. I asked why it wasn’t done before we got the car, but they didn’t have an answer.
I think ‘massive issue’ is a bit of an exaggeration.
I have a 2023 model I bought in September 2023, and I haven’t had any issues with the original 12V battery or the ICCU.
Nope.
