Just did a long EV road trip… anyone got questions?

Hey everyone,

I recently completed a long-distance EV trip in Canada, over 8 hours on the road. I was planning to write a detailed post on the whole experience, but I thought I’d first see if there are any specific things you all want to know. Maybe you’re considering a similar trip, or just curious about the process?

Let me know, and have a great day!

Did you ever wish you had a gas car instead? How much of a hassle was it overall?

How much did you end up paying per kWh on average? Was it actually cheaper than a regular car for a trip that long?

Were the chargers reliable?

Did you have to wait long at any charging stops?

What’s one thing you’d do differently on your next EV road trip?

How easy was it to plan the trip out?

Did the EV make you take a different route than you would’ve with a gas car?

Great list of questions! I’ll make sure to include lots of details and numbers when I respond.

By the way, what car were you driving? Also, what kind of charging speeds did you get? And how long were your stops?

What speed did you aim for during the trip? Were you going for max efficiency or just driving at regular highway speed? I’ve been wondering if slowing down a bit actually saves time on these trips.
