Hey everyone, I’m new here because I just bought a 2013 RAV4 EV. I know I can get an adapter to use Tesla chargers, but I noticed the RAV4 EV uses 240 volts, while Tesla chargers are 250 volts.
Is that 10-volt difference something I should worry about? I don’t want to damage anything. Any advice would be really helpful!
No worries! Level 2 chargers just pass through the power they’re connected to, so think of them as smart extension cords. The voltage will be whatever comes from the wall, so your car should charge just fine. If it’s not a match, your car won’t start charging, so there’s no risk.
Just remember: your RAV4 will only work on AC Tesla chargers (the ones mounted on a wall or post). It won’t work at Tesla Supercharger locations.
