Should I test drive the EV6 or run away?

This car is awesome. I don’t post every day that my 12V works fine, but people will post the one time it doesn’t.

The 12V and ICCU issues were worth being concerned about, but they’ve mostly been fixed with recalls. My main worry now is tire wear because it’s just so fun to drive.

12V battery issues are common with all EVs.

It’s more common with cheap OEM batteries.

True.

Never had a problem with my Kona’s 12V battery.

@izael
Every 12V battery dies eventually. It’s just a matter of time. Better quality ones last longer.

Drive the GT model, hit the green button on the wheel, and recalibrate everything you thought about Kia.

Exactly! I drove across state lines to buy one 48 hours after pressing that button. No regrets, still loving it 9 months later.

@diallo
I’ve put 51k miles on my Wind AWD in 2.5 years and still love driving it every day.

Same here. Traded my RWD for a GT after 2 years. Big smile every drive.

I loved the GT, but the seats weren’t for me. Plus, I’d only get into trouble with that much power! I went for the GT-Line for the comfort.

@zendaya
I felt the same about the GT seats, but the Wind and Ioniq 5 seats were great. Too bad the Ioniq screens look like cheap plastic on a $50-60k car.

My 12V battery died and the car’s in the shop for repairs, but it’s still the best car I’ve ever owned. It’s quieter than my old 5 Series BMW, which is impressive.

How long do you expect the repairs to take?

@Howard
When they replaced the 12V, it only took two days. But now it’s back in for electrical issues and has been there a week with no update yet.

I’m 4 days into owning a used GT-Line. I was also worried about the ICCU and 12V issues, but the price was too good to pass up. I’m being cautious with external apps and accessory mode, but I figure if something happens, the warranty will cover it. Loving it so far!

@MAKENA
I never use accessory mode. If you’re sitting in the car, just leave it in park with the car running.

@MAKENA
Just get a 12V AGM battery from Walmart and don’t worry about it.
