I’ve tried searching, and couldn’t find my specific case listed, so I figured I’d ask here:
I recently signed up for SmartCharge and installed the EV.Energy app. I connected my Rivian, and it shows up in the app. However, I also have a Polestar, but it looks like Polestar isn’t supported (possibly due to some API limitations). So, I’ve got a few questions:
-
Does my Wallbox charger still communicate with EV.Energy when I’m charging the Polestar, even though it’s not a Rivian? How does that work, and will this count toward any rebates I might be eligible for?
-
How much of a rebate should I expect? I’ve already set up my Wallbox to charge between 12am and 6am to stay within the Time of Use window for ConEd.
-
Is there a downside to this? It feels a bit strange giving a company access to both my vehicle and charger, especially if it’s just for a $4/month rebate. I also came across some older posts that mentioned battery drain when setting up a vehicle on the website instead of the app, which makes me a little cautious.
I tried reaching out to EV.Energy support, but their chatbot didn’t help, and I haven’t had a response to my email yet.
Any advice would be appreciated as I try to figure out if this setup is worth it.
