Stuck between GT RWD and Long Range AWD… which one should I go for?

I’m looking at a 24-month lease, and the prices are similar for both the GT RWD and Light Long Range AWD, but I can’t make the GT AWD work for me. So, between the GT RWD and Light Long Range AWD, which would you all pick?
I’m based in Southern California, so weather isn’t a big factor. Are the features of the GT RWD enough to make up for the AWD’s performance?

By the way, don’t worry about the lease part, it’s part of a bigger plan I’m not really getting into here.

Do you really need the 600hp and can you deal with a 150-mile range? I’d definitely go for the one with more range if that’s important to you.

He’s actually talking about the GT-Line RWD. The actual GT is AWD only and yeah, it’s close to 600hp like you mentioned.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they mean the GT-Line. The real GT doesn’t come in RWD at all.

The range difference isn’t huge. It’s 282 miles for the AWD and 310 for the GT RWD.

It kind of comes down to what matters more to you. Do you care more about the tech features and the longer range in the GT-Line RWD, or the faster acceleration of the Light Long Range AWD?

Another thing to keep in mind is the headroom. The sunroof on the GT-Line cuts down headroom a bit, so if you’re tall, you’ll want to sit in it and see how it feels. That extra inch or so might be a big deal depending on your height.

Yeah, that’s what I’m wrestling with. I keep hearing people say that the RWD feels ‘sluggish’ compared to the AWD, which feels like a different car. But at the same time, I hear folks saying the cameras and door handles alone make the GT worth it.

I’m 6’2, so I didn’t even think about the roof height! I’m gonna have to sit in one and make sure it’s not a problem for me.

I own a GT-Line RWD. I consistently get over 300 miles on a charge, and it’s definitely not sluggish at all. I’m 6’4 and I just barely fit under the sunroof. If you’re taller than me, it might be tight. I love the heads-up display (HUD), and it’s a big reason I went with the GT-Line.

You should sit in both to be sure. If you like most of the GT-Line’s features but the sunroof’s headroom is a dealbreaker, check out the Wind trim with the Tech Package. It gives you a lot of the same features, just not everything.

Also, remember that the GT and GT-Line aren’t the same thing. The GT is faster but more expensive and doesn’t have as many tech features. Plus, the GT only comes in AWD, no RWD option.

The RWD isn’t as fast as the AWD, but it’s still plenty quick for daily driving, and you won’t have any issues when you need to accelerate fast.

Thanks for that advice!

The best thing to do is drive both of them. That should make your decision easy. Once you try out the AWD, you’ll likely lean toward it.

I’d go with the GT-Line RWD. That’s what I got, and it’s got plenty of torque in both normal and sport modes. It’s only a bit slow in eco mode. I get around 350 miles per charge, and for just two years, I don’t think paying an extra $5k for the AWD is worth it. Plus, the Light Long Range is lacking in tech; no ambient lighting either. Definitely test drive both. The 258 lb-ft of torque is more than enough, and since it’s a single motor, the car is lighter too.
