Tire lifespan—how many miles/km have you gotten out of yours?

The tires on my GT (255/40R21 Goodyear Eagle F1) are pretty much done after about 13k miles (20.9k km)—they’re down to the wear indicators on all four. I had them rotated during the first service at 8k miles (12.8k km), and the post-service check said the tire wear was fine (I checked myself and agreed).

I know the GT is a torque beast, but I’m not always ripping around in GT mode. I mostly drive in ‘Normal’ because it’s perfect for daily driving.

Does this sound like anyone else’s experience?

The stock tires didn’t impress me much either—I got around 18k miles out of mine.

I switched to Pilot Sport 4S, and I’ll see how they last. Keep an eye on your tire pressure; my dealer overfilled mine a couple of times, which probably didn’t help with the wear.

13k miles seems low, though, unless you’re doing burnouts at every stoplight!

@Thomas
Oh yeah, I had a dealer overinflate the tires on my last car (an RS5) so much that they were visibly bulging. Since then, I’ve told shops not to touch the pressures and I check them myself before leaving.

I filled these Goodyears with nitrogen (my work got some nitrogen generators) after noticing the rears would jump up 4-6 psi after driving just 10 miles at 65 mph.

PS4S is exactly what I’m eyeing for my next summer set. I just ordered a set of Alpin 5s with 20” rims for the winter. How do the PS4S feel on the GT? Any noticeable differences in range or road noise?

@martin
I went through a whole process with wheels and tires.

Check this out

I ended up swapping to 20” wheels, and once everything was sorted, I highly recommend it. I get a bit more range, and the ride is much better over rough roads. Turn-in precision takes a small hit, but I’m not racing, so it’s a great trade-off.

@Thomas
Ahh, I keep forgetting to check the forums. Thanks for the link!

@martin
Have you looked into PS5s in the GT size? They’ve been reviewed really well, and they supposedly last longer than PS4S. I just put a set on the rear of my Stinger.

@Thomas
PS4S are actually the OEM tires for the EV6 GT in Europe.

They’re great in summer, but they get super stiff when it’s below 10°C. I’m switching to my winter wheels next week—Pirelli Scorpion Winter2.

I got my original tires replaced at 55k miles.

I’ve got a GT-Line AWD with 24k miles and 7/32 inches of tread left.

I’m at 20,000 km with my GT on Pilot Sport 4S. The wear is about halfway so far.

Discount Tire recommended replacing mine at only 17k miles on my ‘22 GT-Line.

Had to replace mine at 30k km on my RWD LR.

Replaced mine at 32k miles. I’ve got the GT-Line.

Got about 37k miles on my originals. GT-Line here.

I’m at 16k miles now—about 7k of those on PS4S tires. Still plenty of tread left. My factory Eagle F1s had about 7-8/32 tread left after 5k miles.

I drive a Niro EV and get about 46k miles per set of tires. I drive in Eco mode 98% of the time, though.

I’m still on my original tires at 11k miles, just rotated them. I drive pretty gently since I came from a Nissan Versa, so I’m probably what you’d call a ‘granny driver.’ I’m in SE Michigan, so I deal with warm summers and cold winters.

How are you all burning through tires at 13-20k miles? Is it heavy foot driving or just where you live? Gravel roads? Extreme heat or cold?

I had to replace the original tires on my 2022 Wind AWD at 24,000 miles.

I’m running stock tires on my GT-Line with 26,000 miles on them. I live in the desert southwest, and my car is mostly in the garage. I keep my tire pressure around 36 psi and rotate as needed. I’ve got a heavy foot but mostly drive on the freeway, so not much start/stop driving. Still plenty of tread left.

Got about 90k km (55k miles). Thoroughly worn down and patched up, so I wouldn’t recommend pushing it that far. Swapped for regular tires without soundproofing, and I could immediately feel the difference.
