I recently started using a CarPlayKit wireless adapter with my 2023 Wind AWD Tech and love it for CarPlay. I have unlimited cellular data with AT&T. What do I lose if I cancel my $20/month Verizon hotspot? I don’t need Wi-Fi for passengers since both my wife and I have unlimited data. I use the Kia Connect app frequently and want to ensure I don’t lose access to OTA firmware updates. Any advice?
You’re paying for it? Why? I’ve never signed up for the hotspot. I just use my cellular data for CarPlay.

That’s the response I was hoping for!

You definitely don’t need to pay for the hotspot; just use the data on your phone. Do you pay for Kia Connect?
@olivia
I do pay for the app. I use it frequently to check charge state, precondition the car, etc., and plan to explore the drive history soon.

The app will still work if you cancel the Wi-Fi hotspot. Part of the Kia Connect subscription covers cellular data for the car, so OTA updates will also still happen.
The Verizon hotspot isn’t needed for Kia Connect.
