What's the highest EV charger to gas pump ratio you've seen at a traditional service station?

@sorphia
Ahh, got it, you’re right.

Most Wawas I’ve been to have about 8 Superchargers and 8 pump stands (16 spots total). So that’s like a 2:1 ratio.

Two local Wawas near me have Magic Docks in their Superchargers, but there’s no accommodation for right-side charging ports. I tried it when it was mostly empty, and it worked, but it wasn’t as fast as a native CCS station.

There are twice as many Superchargers as the Electrify America chargers half a mile away, which usually looks like an airport taxiway with all the traffic. EDIT: That’s 8 Superchargers and 16 gas spots.

Whoa, 120 gas pumps?! That’s way more than I’ve ever seen at any rest stop. I’ve seen maybe 10-12 working EA 350kW chargers and 20-30 Tesla chargers at a mall in NJ though. Most I’ve ever seen in one place! I even had to wait 10 minutes for an EA charger, but my EV6 charged in about 15 minutes once I got in.

Shell in Baker, CA has 18 gas/diesel pumps and 116 charging stations (Tesla and Electrify America combined). That’s a 1:6.5 ratio. Best I’ve seen. Plus, the whole place is covered in solar! It’s a great spot. Google Maps link

Here in the UK, most MFG charging sites have 6 or more rapid chargers alongside 6-8 fuel pumps, and they always have canopies, which is a nice touch. Shell Recharge typically has 4-6 chargers to 8-10 pumps, while BP is catching up but still usually has 1-2 chargers.

@Kenneth
MFG has been doing a lot lately. Their fuel sites usually have tons of rapid chargers. BP and Shell, though, seem to have chargers that are broken more often than not.

Any site with only 1-2 chargers is practically useless because both are often broken.

In Quartzsite, AZ, I’ve seen 84 Tesla Superchargers and 12 gas pumps. Plus, there’s a Rivian charger across the street, so that makes it 90 chargers to 12 gas pumps.

I was at a Maverik in the Colorado mountains, and the ratio was about 18 gas pumps to 6 fast chargers, so 3:1.

The more useful stat for most of us would be the number of chargers excluding CHAdeMO.

I’ve never seen any EV chargers at gas stations around here. They just built a brand new Maverik with 16 or 20 pumps and no chargers. But it makes sense, since there are almost no EVs around here. Maybe 1 out of every 300 or 400 vehicles, I’d guess. Most people charge at home if they own one.

Around here, the most common layout is 1 or 2 chargers to 6 or 8 pumps. Honestly, though, I don’t go to gas stations to charge my EV.

There’s a service station between Montreal and Quebec City that has 20 Superchargers (NACS-enabled) and 24 Circuit Electrique chargers, ranging from 50-350kW. Oh, and 10 gas pumps.

It’s hard for me to wrap my head around a 120-pump gas station.

@martin

It’s hard for me to wrap my head around a 120-pump gas station.

Yeah, it’s pretty wild, but this is the U.S., so that’s kind of what we do. Google “Buc-ee’s Sevierville, Tennessee” to see a prime example.

I’ve never seen a working charger at a gas station. There’s one being built an hour away from here, but it’s not open yet.

At a Wawa in Punta Gorda: 8 Tesla Superchargers, 2 Blink chargers (3 plugs, I think), 8 regular gas pumps, and 2 diesel pumps.

I’ve been to a few, but here’s one in Utah that has 14 Supercharger stalls and 10 gas pumps. I swear I’ve been to one with 20 Tesla stalls at a gas station somewhere up north, but I can’t find it.

In Sweden, I stopped at a gas station with one gas pump that barely worked, about 20 Superchargers, 8 Ionity cables, and 6 other chargers from a brand I didn’t recognize. All at one station.

There’s a Chevron station in Hope, BC, with 8 gas pumps and 12 chargers.

A new service station in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, has 6 fuel pumps and 6 150kW chargers, so that’s a 1:1 ratio.

In Austria, there’s a ‘Reload 24’ station where I charged once. It has around 12-14 Supercharger stalls, 2x 350kW Smatrics/EnBW chargers, and 12x 150kW chargers by the local utility company. Next to all that, there’s a regular gas station with 4 pumps. So, that’s like 30 chargers to 4 gas pumps.

In Lebanon, MO, there’s a Casey’s with 4 pumps (8 nozzles) and 4 350kW Electrify America chargers. Since I mostly use EA, I haven’t seen many chargers at gas stations, so my view is a bit skewed.
