Obviously, there are dedicated charging stations with 100% EV chargers, but I’m curious about what ratios people have seen at traditional service stations. A huge Buc-ee’s travel center is under construction in my county in Virginia, and it’s going to have 120 gasoline/diesel pumps and 24 EV chargers. That’s a 5:1 ratio.
Seeing this got me wondering what ratios you all have seen elsewhere around the U.S. How long do you think it’ll be before we start seeing a 1:1 ratio?

Wow, that’s awesome! What area are you in?
I’m not sure where the original commenter is, but in Denmark, there’s a Circle K with 4 gas pumps, 4 Circle K 300kW chargers, and 16 Tesla Superchargers.

That’s definitely a strategic spot out there in the desert! And it’s good they put roofs over those charging stations. Looks like they’ve got solar panels on the roofs, too.
There’s a Buc-ee’s in Temple, TX with 48 Tesla Superchargers (some with Magic Docks) and 6 (soon to be 10) Mercedes chargers. No idea how many gas pumps though.

Yeah, I didn’t even think about interstate charging spots. We stopped at a little Circle K truck stop in Georgia with 6 lanes for rigs, 8 pumps up front (16 cars), and 16 Superchargers on the side.

That’s great! Do you have any sense of how EV adoption is progressing in Texas? I’d think it’d be a slower transition, but solid charging infrastructure like this could help.
@zendaya
Austin is pretty EV-friendly. The city has installed hundreds of AC chargers and even offers incentives to building owners to install them. We used to have a $4/month unlimited AC charging plan, but they scrapped it earlier this year.
DC fast charging is still lacking, but it’s improved a lot since I got my EV 3 years ago. Can’t wait to get access to Superchargers though.
@zendaya
I live in a small town in the middle of the TX triangle. A couple years ago, we mostly saw EVs only during weekends and holidays, driven by people passing through from the cities. Now, we’re seeing EVs in the driveways here, and more people are starting to replace one of their household vehicles with an EV. Still, more variety and options would help.
@Jason
Hamilton, a small town near me, even has a Supercharger now. Kind of impressive considering it’s not off a major highway or freeway. They’ve also installed a Level 2 charger downtown for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

The Buc-ee’s in Luling has 120 gas pumps and a couple dozen Superchargers.

It’s one of the newer Buc-ee’s, so yeah, over 100 gas pumps for sure.
