So I noticed when I press the windshield heating button, the AC light comes on but the Heat light doesn’t. However, it’s clearly warming up and I can even see the range dropping on the estimator.
Does this mean the windshield heating automatically triggers the heat pump even if the heat light doesn’t turn on? Can anyone confirm this?

Honestly, I’d just use what works for you without stressing about efficiency too much. I’ve had my EV6 for a few months, and it’s just now getting cold enough for my windows to fog.
A few times, auto climate hasn’t kept up, so I’ll manually turn on defrost for a bit until it clears. After that, I switch back to auto. The AC turns on during defrost to help remove humidity from the air, so it defogs better. Unless you’re on a long trip, I don’t think it impacts your range that much, especially for daily commutes.

Great advice, thanks! It’s just started to cool down here too, and I’ve found that using front defrost works well. Keeps everything fog-free, and the cabin is comfortable even on low fan settings. I’m starting to wonder if auto climate is even worth it since it doesn’t seem optimal.
@olivia
You might want to check out your climate settings. I’m not sure how well they work, but there’s an auto-defrost feature that senses humidity and adjusts automatically. There’s also an eco-mode that can limit how well the climate control works in that mode. Like I said, not sure how much it helps, but these settings could play a role in how your climate system functions.
