Anyone else here insuring their EV6 through Allstate?
It’s renewal time for me, and they just raised my premium by about $600, claiming it’s due to Kias being a common target for theft. Funny thing is, they didn’t seem worried about that when I first got the policy six months ago! Mine’s a 2024.
I ended up switching both cars over to Amica, and the savings are huge. Hopefully, it stays that way. For context, we’re in the Seattle area, if that makes a difference.
Had Allstate with my EV6 for a bit, but the premiums were crazy high. Switched to Progressive, and my rate dropped almost by half for the same coverage.
This is why the Kia lawsuit didn’t go far enough. It focused on those affected by the ‘Kia Boyz’ but left out the rest of us Kia owners who are indirectly affected. Our car values dropped, and our insurance premiums are higher now.

I’m not sure what the resale value will be even with a lawsuit. I’ve read a few articles saying these cars might not hold value well. Also, not sure how much we’ll see improvements in charging infrastructure anytime soon, especially with political headwinds and limited federal funding. It’s a cool tech, but insurance, infrastructure, and even repair support still seem pretty far from ideal.
I’m in Arizona, paying around $600–$700 for six months, but I had a $3000 claim last year. Without that, it’d probably be closer to $450 with Progressive.
Just renewed in Michigan. My 2023 EV6 is $1923 a year, and my 2019 Optima SXL is $1876 annually. Total was $4250 after a bundle discount. It jumped up about $1000 this year, but every agent I talked to had similar pricing.
My EV6 was $1039 every six months, then switched to an EV9 and now pay $1004. This is with Allstate, $2000 deductible, and three drivers (one teenager). A few years back, we had a big $9500 claim, so I might need to shop around for better rates.
